ABOUT

Tsugai is part of Huggy Wine's "Mineral Category" — wines produced with the explicit goal of improving quality through mineral richness in the vineyard. The Tsugai Koshu is made from Koshu vines grown in mineral-rich vineyards in Katsunuma, then matured using the Elevage sur Lies (lees

ageing) method. This extended contact with the fine lees contributes amino acids and peptides to the wine, building texture and complexity that goes beyond what the grape alone would produce. The name "Tsugai" (nn in Japanese) means "pair" — the pairing of two elements considered equally important and inseparable: nature and human wisdom; grape growers and winemakers. It reflects the winery's conviction that great wine is always a collaboration, never the achievement of any single party.

AROMA & TASTE

Pale gold in colour with clean, delicate Koshu character. On the nose: subtle citrus, white peach, and a hint of yuzu, with a gentle creaminess from the lees contact and quiet mineral undertones. On the palate: dry and refreshing, with the bright natural acidity of Katsunuma-grown Koshu balanced by a rounder, slightly broader texture that the sur lies method imparts. The finish is clean, slightly savoury, with lingering mineral and amino acid depth. More body and structure than a simple stainless-steel fermented Koshu, yet retaining the delicate, food-friendly character the

variety is known for. Best served chilled (8-12 degrees C). Pairs well with sushi, sashimi, shellfish, white fish, tofu, and delicately seasoned Japanese dishes.
