INGREDIENTS & PRODUCTION
Made from 100% Miyakojima sugarcane and mineral-rich water naturally filtered through ancient Ryukyu coral limestone. Fermented with proprietary native yeast (MY17) that was extracted from the locally grown sugarcane and
double-distilled in a hybrid still — first under vacuum, then at normal atmosphere —
producing a remarkably clean, aromatic white rum.
THE BRAND
“Makugan” (まくがん) means coconut crab in the Miyakojima
dialect — an endangered species found only on the island. The striking red label celebrates this iconic creature, reflecting Taragawa’s philosophy of cherishing nature and honoring local culture.
