ABOUT
The Huggy-Spark Tsugai is the sparkling expression of the same Tsugai concept — Koshu from mineral-rich Katsunuma vineyards, matured using the Elevage sur Lies method, then made into a sparkling wine. It carries the same Tsugai name and philosophy: the pair of grape grower and winemaker, of nature and human wisdom, working together to produce something that neither could achieve alone. Huggy Wine's sparkling wines have earned a strong following for being high in quality, reasonably priced, and easy to enjoy — the winery's own description of their sparkling range. The combination of Koshu's natural citrus and mineral character with the textural uplift of lees ageing and the brightness of sparkling makes this an especially versatile and food-friendly wine. It is one of the most popular products in the Huggy Wine range.
AROMA & TASTE
Lively and refreshing on the nose with the characteristic Koshu citrus — yuzu, pink grapefruit, white peach — brightened and lifted by the bubbles. The lees contact adds a creamy, bready quality alongside the fruit freshness, creating more complexity than a straightforward sparkling Koshu. On the palate: dry, crisp, and well-structured, with fine bubbles, refreshing acidity, and a clean mineral finish with pleasing amino acid depth. The grapefruit-inflected character typical of the Tsugai range comes through clearly. Serve well chilled in a flute or white wine glass. An ideal aperitif and an exceptional match for oysters, clams, sushi, sashimi, tempura, and any dish where a Champagne or Cava might be served.
